Can You Freeze Cake Ahead Of Time.

I would appreciate any advice....have to bake a wedding cake for Sept 30 and I work during the day....could I bake the cake on the 24th of Sept and freeze them until the 28th and crumbcoat them and then on the 29th - decorate???????????

Sure can! Just make sure to wrap in a few layers of plastic wrap and let it thaw before you decorate it. I do it all the time and my cakes stay moist. Great time saver.

absolutely..........I ALWAYS freeze my cakes..........even if I make it 2 days ahead..........I think they come out more moist!!!

I do the same thing! I hate to get rushed and you never know what kind of emergency (with 4 kids) might come up!

I always freeze my layers at least a couple of days ahead if I can.

I wrapped them loosely in plastic wrap, put in the freezer to harden for several hours, them wrap them again tightly and securely. When ready to use take out and allow plenty of time for the layers to come to room temp before unwrapping them.

It takes a lot of pressure off you the day you have to start decorating.
