What fondant do you use and how do people like it?

I have seen a few different brands and was not sure about which one to get. I'm still trying to make MMF but want to practice in the mean time. Which is the best one to use on a cake people will eat?

I tried making MMF and that was a disaster. Wilton fondant works well but tastes HORRIBLE. I use Satin Ice and everybody likes the taste but not everybody likes that it is a little chewy kinda like marshmallows. I have used Pettinice and it is the same way. I really don't think a lot of people dislike the taste of some fondants but they just don't like the texture.

Hi, I am a newbie too. I just started using fondant. I don't like ready made fondant, but I have heard that wiltons is alright I guess. I make MMF. I find it is easy to make and taste good too. I have been hearing about this satin ice a lot on this site, but I have heard that you have to buy it ready made somewhere. I have found a recipe called satin ice, but I don't know if it is the same thing.

Has anyone thought of making their own fondant?. It tastes great and is easy to make as long as you have a decent mixer.

I use Fondex Fondant from Cal Java and it is my favorite and the best to work with in my opinion. Wilton Fondant works fine if you are sculpting, but tastes awful! thumbsdown.gif Try Fondex or Pettinice you will be pleased with either one!

I use Pettinice. I get it from pastrychef.com and I like it very much. Again, no fondant tastes great, but I found this one to be very good to work with and tastes ok. It was recommended by Toba Garrett.

I'm still hoping to make MMF but the 2 times I did it didn't work for me. I'm going to try again but also want a back up in case it doesn't work for a 3rd time.
