What fondant do you use and how do people like it?
I have seen a few different brands and was not sure about which one to get. I'm still trying to make MMF but want to practice in the mean time. Which is the best one to use on a cake people will eat?
I tried making MMF and that was a disaster. Wilton fondant works well but tastes HORRIBLE. I use Satin Ice and everybody likes the taste but not everybody likes that it is a little chewy kinda like marshmallows. I have used Pettinice and it is the same way. I really don't think a lot of people dislike the taste of some fondants but they just don't like the texture.
I have bought fondx and satin ice and they are both my favs. ive also tried the white choc colored fondant that cal java sells and i think it is too soft and it doesnt come out very smooth when i work with it
Hi, I am a newbie too. I just started using fondant. I don't like ready made fondant, but I have heard that wiltons is alright I guess. I make MMF. I find it is easy to make and taste good too. I have been hearing about this satin ice a lot on this site, but I have heard that you have to buy it ready made somewhere. I have found a recipe called satin ice, but I don't know if it is the same thing.
I posted this thread the other day about mmf if you would like to read it .

Wiltons fondant taste horrible. i use it for figures, car wheels, bows, etc stuff i dont think people will eat. its good to work withand mold but again the taste it horrible
Has anyone thought of making their own fondant?. It tastes great and is easy to make as long as you have a decent mixer.
BTW if you call caljava on the phone and order and say you have a business. I used Cakes by_____ you get a discount
I'm still hoping to make MMF but the 2 times I did it didn't work for me. I'm going to try again but also want a back up in case it doesn't work for a 3rd time.
Darlene thank you I will try this one too. I'm not against making it myself, just hate when it doesn't work ![]()
