So I was going to make my friend an awesome birthday cake this weekend and was all psyched to do it. However, I broke my finger and now I have to keep it in a splint for 2 weeks!! I'm SO pissed! icon_cry.gif So now he's going to get a very plain cake because I have no coordination with my left hand. Any ideas?

So sorry, how awful, do you have anyone aroung to help? Like making icings, filling bags etc? As long as the bags are filled, you can still pipe, if you are righthanded. Hope you feel better soon

thanks, i will have someone to fill bags, but piping is where the problem is going to be right handed because i cant squeeze with the way my splint is attatched

Can you squeeze the bag with your left hand but control the tip with your right?

I had to switch hands several times while doing my soccer ball cake because my right hand was so tired (all those stars and grass! icon_surprised.gif ), and with a little practice I could do just about as well with my left as with my right.

I guess it depends on the type of decorating you had planned to do, but you might want to put a little icing in a bag and practice just to see if you can do it.

Good luck!

Laura.
