I am wondering if you can put ribbon on buttercream. Does it have to be a certain kind of ribbon so it doesn't leak through? Or isn't that usually a problem? Thanks for looking!
I used satin ribbon on my blue scroll cake, and the grease started staining through before the cake was even all the way assembled. Sheer ribbon isn't as bad because it's sheer.
I've heard of people suggesting lining the back with waxed paper but haven't tried it.
I have put ribbon on cakes made with bc and it does leave an greasy look on the thribbon. I have been told if you do this at home to use a low heat iron and place the ribbon backside on wax paper, iron lightly then place on cake it won't be greasy. HTH
