Ray Ban sunglasses! Ok I admit it I grew up in the 80's 
Miami Vice pastels? Early 80's - rollerskating was still in (not the in-line type of skates though). An old Apple computer? Atari? Rubix Cube (that's a great one!)? VCRs were just coming out. They were HUGE in size.
That's all I can think of right now.
How about a cake that looks like a box (brown cardboard with the words '80s stuff written on it) and all kinds of 80s stuff hanging out the top. the leg warmers and oakleys (80s?) and that hairspray... aquanet! and a fraggle.....oh yeah a Rubix cube
i like the cube idea! if it was for a girl you could do a cabbage patch kid. how about roller skates?
1) Pac-Man or other arcade game (like the large ones in Pizza Parlors)
2) Record Player w/some 80's albums/tunes
3) Trivial Pursuit game board
4) TV w/ MTV logo (remember when there were music videos on MTV?)
5) Trapper Keeper
6) Walkman
