I was going to buy luster dust online and have been checking many sites but everyone I look at says that the luster dust is not edible. Is there another site that I have missed that has edible luster dust. What do you all use? TIA

It is edible, just not FDA approved in the US. AS I understand it, it is approved in Canada. There are so many people on this website that use it - and I do too, I think you'll be safe. Just make sure whatever you buy is non-toxic and you'll be fine.

I am just not understanding why it says------- Colored dusts are not a food additive and should not be considered as such.
What is it made of???????

you can definately use luster dust as an edible decoration. I have done it and we use it in the Navy as well, you know we have to be careful. icon_smile.gif

The dusts are primarily minerals & chalks. They are not a "food additive" because they have no nutritional components--no sugars, fats, oils, calories, etc. The body doesn't need, or use, what they're made of, so they "pass on through" without harm (non-toxic)--like the crayons, play-doh, etc. that kids eat (non-toxic, but not nutritional [edible]).
