I am a childcare provider I was asking advise about getting an appliance garage in my new kitchen since I could not fit the mixer lift into the cabinets.... and a friend said do you use it that much could you just put it away......

I thought DUH it is a Kitchen Aid and then I remembered where I was... I quickly came here were people would never put their kitchen AId in a closet...... LOL

A mixer lift would have been heaven ( not enough cabinets)

My main reason for getting the pretty red KA is because its home is out on my counter! Putting it away would just be a pain!

Mine lives on the couter as well. Just like a toaster or coffee maker. It's not like those are so pretty! The Kitchen Aid is far more decorative, as far as I'm concerned! LOL

mine doesn't go away either. I am so used to seeing one anyway b/c my gram had one, my mom had one. When mom got mine for me it made my kitchen complete (and baking easier...........WAY before I started cakes)

I got lucky and I have 2 KA mixers (I recently got a second one as my 10 service award from my company that I work for). My red one sits on the counter and my new one (brushed nickel) lives in its box. I don't have enough counter space to display TWO mixers.

I have one of those little appliance corner cabinets that will just hold my 2 KA's. I have to take the bowl off of one and store it elsewhere. It makes it so easy to just open the cabinet and slide the mixer out and slide it back in when I'm done. We're going to remodel the kitchen (soon I hope) and I told DH that I wanted to keep that feature!

I have 2 KAs...one lives on my kitchen counter and has a cover.
The other one lives in my dining room on the floor...
well, it WAS my dining room...
now it's a storage room for all my wedding cake stuff.
Cake stuff has taken over my kitchen and my laundry room as well...
oh, and a couple boxes of stuff in a closet in my family room.
Does anyone else have rooms full of cake stuff?

Put...it...away...? So, when she's done playing with her children, does she put them in a cupboard? Hehehehe. Some people don't understand!! I have a black artisan and his 'big brother' the brushed nickel Pro model, and they have their own cabinet. I have a baker's rack that is dedicated to them, and on the shelves I have all my cake books, etc. This poor soul you were speaking to was obviously not a cake lady! icon_wink.gif

Uh, yah, my formal dining room is well, not usable right now. I just got done rearranging the bins in there with my cake stuff. That stuff can really take up room! It's a good thing we have a table in the eating area next to the kitchen. Oh, wait, that's where I decorate cakes! Good thing someone invented TV trays!

Ummm, I thought that once it was cleaned off, and washed up and shiny after using it was "put away" it lives on the counter, heck I ripped out shelves so that it would have it's own proper place there to inhabit. My husband thinks i'm crazy the last two or three months there have been times he's come home from work and discovered i've started PULLING the kitchen apart, he says what are you DOING I said, well your living room and tv/stereo surround sound "crap" is all just the way you want it.. SOOOOO i'm going to make this kitchen the way I want it. He says we dont' have time I said you'll make time icon_smile.gif and so far it's working... but yea my whole house is being taken over by cake/wedding stuff so don't feel bad. I've decided that since I can't make enough money to get Legal from home in Illinios, I'm going to do custom wedding/party stationary full time and use that money to do cakes on the side, and save up for a store front. So now i've got all my other work stuff and my fun cake stuff... plus I'm almost done with my bridal consultant class... lord have mercy we're gonna need to buy a new house to just live in soon icon_smile.gif

Oh my goodness, can you believe the horror! icon_surprised.gif someone thinks they can just put it away! icon_cry.gif Good thing you have come to your senses and talked to people that know what they are talking about =)

As for the storage, mine sits either in the dining room or on the counter (kitchen isn't big enough to leave it in there all the time, but hopefully my new kitchen will be, and I already check on the house we want to buy there is plenty of room to store it on the counter underneath the existing cabinets icon_lol.gif )

When I get mine, I think that I will be removing my George foreman rotisserie and replacing it with my BEE-UUU-TEE-FULL pink KA, lol. but, I have to see. I HATE having things out on the counter that I don't use every day...so, I need to get some more cake orders, don't I? lol icon_biggrin.gif

LOL. Oh yes. My new mixer gets some use. I think my red one was getting jealous of my new toy. LMAO! icon_lol.gif I now try and mix it up a bit and use them both when I can.
