i was trying to think of something for a cake topper that could resemble a fireworks spray- ya know a firework that has exploded, does that make sense? if anyone has any input, i would greatly appreciate it.

What about royal icing stars on wire? There's a picture of something like that in the 2007 Wilton Yearbook in the Independance Day section.

How about those wires with small metallic stars on them that come wrapped in a circle. You know, the kind you use to decorate a wrapped present with or wrap around a pillar candle. They always sell them with the July 4th stuff. They make them black with orange pumpkins on for Halloween, etc. too. I would pull them straight and have them coming out of the top of the cake in a fountain shape.

Does this make sense?

I use those wired stars and metallic onion grass-type stuff that you can get in the party section of craft stores. And one time, I got a battery-operated fiber optic spray in the floral department. I used a styrofoam dummy top layer and wrapped the battery compartment in plastic wrap before inserting it into the top layer with some fondant stars on wires. It looked good because the room was dimly lit and you could see the fiber optics. This picture isn't too good because of the lighting in the room, but you get the idea...
