Can I Add The Cake Extender To Marble Cake Mix?

Can you still do the cake extender or the super enhanced cake reciped on a box of marble cake mix? I have been asked to do Marble cake, but I want to make it taste better. Or should I just make a yellow cake mix and do the extender to it, then add the cocoa separtly for the marbled effect?
