I would like to tell everyone how wonderful my friend Jan is. A couple of weeks ago I helped her with her sons wedding cake. Jan made the cake. I showed her how to cover with marzipan and fondant and we did the decorating between us. She offered to pay me at the time but I said no as she had bought everything and did a good half of the work (plus if you can't help a friend occassionally who can you help). She gave me all the left over ingreediants to take home as she said she wouldn't be using them again. There was enough stuff left to make 3 further cakes. When I got into work this morning she had a lovely thank you card for me and she had bought me a new tilting turntable. I priced the same one a couple of weeks ago and its £30 in the stores here. When making the cake she noticed I only had a normal turntable which I prop up on a box if I need to tilt and she thought she'd treat me as a thank you
That is so sweet of you BOTH!!
You know that is what TRUE friends are all about. ![]()
Congrats on your new turntable.
Aren't surprises like that so nice!
I made our best friends' wedding cake (husband's best friend first, and now his wife became our best friend too) and I told them that it would be a wedding present to them. Especially since they have done so much for us. Well they insisted on paying for half of the supplies. When they gave me the check it was for $200
I don't think I deserved that much, but I am not one to look a gift horse in the mouth. I told them thank you and that it was an honor doing their cake. (It's the wedding cake in my photos that has the fountain under it with the lavendar accents.)
