I had some left over MMF and decided to try making some roses. I have not tried since the Course III. It was too soft. I need to add something to it, but I am not sure what to do.... Any suggestions? Is it gumtex that I add? Thanks....~Tonja

Yes gum text is what stiffens up your fondant...good luckicon_smile.gif

I do the same thing with my leftover Fondant.. But I don't add anything.. if the Fondant was pliable enough to cover a cake, then it should be strong enough to make a rose... but if you want, you can add EITHER
more powdered sugar OR gum tex..

I make my roses with equal parts gumpaste and fondant. I am not a fan of making roses with MMF, but the gumpaste should give you the strength and body you need.

50/50 FOndant and Gumpaste is also good.. Fondant has nice smooth texture and gum paste has the strength you want.. To me all gum paste is sometimes grainey or not totally smooth.. icon_smile.gif

prettycake - those are hot!! i love them. I wish i knew how to make them. i have left over fondant at home too, i have tried to do a flower w/mmf but they look awful. I haven't learned how to, so i was just trying on my own. cutting the mmf round, rolling it and trying to curve them a bit after attaching each petal. pathetic!

Thanks for all the responses! What is the difference between gumtex and gumpaste? I hope this is not a stupid question.

I think gumtex is a powder you can mix into your fondant for increased strength, while gumpaste is the a different product all together-it may contain gumtex in it. Not sure though.
