What do you do when you only need a small amount of royal icing? I don't want to mix up a full batch. I just need some to glue pearls on a cake.

thanks,

pat

I mix one egg white with as much powdered sugar as it takes to get the consistency I'm after.........usually half a cup or less.........and it dries super hard, it's a great glue

sure, I just look at the directions for mixing up one egg white.....I think it's usually like 2 tsp. of meringue powder with 2tblsp. of water

Man, this is great! THanks Khalstead for the info!! I hate wasting a whole batch of royal - oftentimes you only need a little. I never thought of making a small amount!!
