I am looking at purchasing my first silver plateau and I need some help with what size to purchase.
I have 2 orders for wedding cakes in September with the bottom layer being a 14" square. So, should I purchase a 14" plateau or should I go with a 16" or 18"?
I've tried looking at pictures here on CC but most of them don't show the base.
TIA

I have a 14" sq 16" and 21" round I used the 21" once the 16" so many times I can"t count. I just bought the 14"sq so I'll have to see how much it gets used.
That's a very hard choice - I know. I bought a couple (not at the same time) a couple of months back.
I bought both the 16" and the 18" because I also couldn't make my mind up
The nice plus for the 18" is that you can also make your cake boards part of the cake by making them a couple of inches larger and still look nice on the 18" plateau (thinking about fondant here).
P.S.: not plugging eBay here, but I searched all over and they had some at pretty good prices. SaveOnCrafts.com has good prices also.
i have to agree. better for it to be a tad larger than not enough room
