I used to have a list of how many cake mixes you need for each sized pan. I was wandering if anyone has it? I need to make a 10" round double and wandered if I needed two mixes or one mix with the cake extended version?

I use one extended for a 10 x 2" pan or I use two and level.

Good luck...

do you mean you want a two layer 10" round? When I use the cake mix extender recipe 1/2 a recipe is just enough to do two 8" layers. (the 1/2 recipe is with one box of cake mix) If you need two 10" layers one cake mix won't be enough I think.

1 DH mix and 1 extender is two perfect 8" rounds. I might go 2 mixes for 10".

I usually use 1 cake mix per 9 or 10". I like nice thick/high cakes.

I used one cake mix with the extender per pan (10" X2") this past weekend. I had to level but finally got the height I wanted! icon_lol.gif

One DH cake mix for a 10" pan is perfect esp if you wrap the insulation around the outside of the pan so it rises evenly. Then you just have to level a bit off the top, but I don't mind that as I like full 4" layer cakes.

Thankyou, I actually decided to forgoe the extended version this time around. I am just going to add a pudding mix to each cake mix. I had to buy so much stuff today for the cake, buttercream dream icing, and MMF that I wouldnt make but 10.00 to make a 10"double and 6" double stacked cake. I am making bjfranco go kart race track around the cake and just "selling" it for $40.00 plus I had to buy the cars to put on it, and two cake pans and out of mula!! I will try it next time though! Thanks for your help!
