I was dissapointed with the county fair here too. I was excited about entering, but they didn't have this year's general information booklet online ever. They had last year's for awhile, but then the link just disappeared. So no way to know what the rules where and what they allowed or didn't. And from what I saw of last year's it was just a suggestion of something you could enter within the bigger category of "baked goods" like it would be judged alongside cookies and pies and such.

I'll have to check out the state fair, but they don't have their information up yet either, though it says it'll be up in June 2007...hmmm, this IS July isn't it?

Letmebeurdesignr, I also live in Alabama. Yes there is a state fair. It is located in Birmingham, but I'm not sure of the dates. It's funny that you post this today, because this morning I was trying to find out info about the county fair in my neck of the woods. I called the Park and Recreation Office and they said the Jaycees are in charge of that. When I called that office I got a recording the phone is restricted. I can't find anything online about it either. Sorry my reply is so long, I'm just really irritated because I really want to enter a contest and can't find out anything.

Well, don't feel too bad. I had to go down to the extension office and pick up a flyer that told me what website to go to. Went to the website and all it said was "Decorated cakes. Can be dummies. 1/2 cake" Well, that's about as clear as mud! Had to call extension office back and leave a message for someone to call me back. She did call back and I asked about the 1/2 of a dummy cake and she said that it should be a whole cake....." OK. Good thing! I was picturing 1/2 of a puppy cake. That would have gone over well!!

Well, what the heck?! I think you should still do half a dummy. Think of it as a cake from a "different perspective".. icon_lol.gif

Well, it would be different all right! Have you decided if you're going to enter yet? If so, decide on what you're going to do yet? I'm having the hardest time deciding!
