Hi all

There were a few questions about my star cake that I posted, so thought I would answer them here for you...

Firstly... this cake didn't go as plan. If you look at my forum posts ("Any Idea how this is done?")... you will see the original request picture.

I'm not as clever as that person so with the help of ideas from you guys at CC I made by pouring white ganache over the cake - after it was coloured. Then I tried to drizzle over coloured chocolate -- well that didn't work -- looked absolutely crap. Scraped off as much as I could but it left traces of bits, which I smoothed in and ended up having a fleck effect. Then i rolled out choc fondant and layed it on in strips. The piping at the bottom is green ganache piped with tip 190 turned on it's side.

Nothing really special, but the effect ended up looking ok... thanks for all the nice comments. From a cake that caused me frustration came out looking not half bad.

Your cake came out different than the one you had the picture of but I like yours too. Difference can be a good thing! Yours is really cute!
