Does the raspberry filling in the pouches taste like the raspberry in jelly donuts? I don't like raspberry jam, but love the jelly. Does anyone know a recipe or where to buy?

The raspberry sleeve filling tastes yummy, its just like the stuff they use for grocery store bakery filling.

I also really like Polaner AllFruit raspberry jam for cake filling. It isn't sicky sweet like regular preserves and is very good and readily available at the last minute as well.

They sell fruit fillings in plastic pouches in the cake ds. I have never tried them, I am curious does the one in the pouch taste like the jam in the jars. I used smuckers yuck! That was all they had at the time.

I think the pouch/sleeve fillings taste just like doughnut fillings - at least the raspberry does FOR SURE! I love the raspberry.

I got a cherry that I'm not a fan of (but I don't tend to like cherry stuff anyway) but others loved. It's not overly sweet, slightly on the tart side.

You can get them at most cake supply stores I think. They're not really branded and look pretty generic. Usually they go for around 3-4 bucks each. They don't need to be fridged until after you open, and they will last for quite a while in there if you have leftovers. They're pretty gelatenous (sp?) so they stay put pretty well.

I want to try more flavors. Like the chocolate and bavarian cream --- mmmmmmm!

Our Michael's and JoAnns do not carry them.
Most cake supply stores have them, I believe. Have you tried googling "Cake and candy supply (enter your city and state)" Sometimes they're tucked away in quiet places with small signs...just might find one if you're lucky! icon_smile.gif

You can get them online, and also see what we're talking about at sugarcraft.com.

Look to the left, under Food Items, click on Filling, Pastry.
Under "Cake Fillings for torting cakes, Pastry, Candies etc"

A filling that I have found that is easy to use and very flavorful is the Welch's Red Raspberry Spread (it is seedless also). It is not too heavy or sweet, and it compliments french vanilla or chocolate cakes very nicely. Plus, if you use the right amount when torting a cake, it never buldges.
