Help, I did my first edible image. Purchased the ink and sheets from sugarcraft and did a black and white harley Davidson logo and used piping gel to attatch to gumpaste to make an edible image plaque and the black turned red(took about a day for this to happen). Can anyone help...what did I do wrong?
I have always applied the images on BC or fondant. I have never used piping gel or gumpaste. The image on BC is applied before the icing starts to crust, if it crusts I just put a very small of water on a spatula and go over the area it is going on so it will have something to stick to. The same on fondant. I would think that the gel may have had something to do with the image fading out and bleeding.
I know a lot of CC's use piping gel to attach edible images to fondant--just personal preference. I have done it before, but don't anymore just because it is too messy for me. I'm really stumped as to why the colors bled--the piping gel shouldn't really have any affect on the image. What kind of icing sheets are you using?
