CHOCOLATE TRANSFERS! That way you can get everything onto one cake without overkill! This cake came to mind when I saw your post - http://www.sweetcourse.com/manwhohaseverything.htm - thought it might give you some ideas.
guy on a couch w/ a HUMOUNGOUS remote control.
across from him a WALL of tv monitors .. each w/ a different sport on it.
all can be cake and on top of sheet cake if needed for more servings.
wall is just narrow sections of cake stacked and then covered and detailed out w/ edible images. easiest to cover in fondant.
couch is just layer of cake w/ small sections added to make back and sides. again fondant covered.

man Doug you never cease to amaze me with these ideas...........do you do cakes professionally??? why don't you have a website!! You amaze me all the time with your thinking.
cakes now a pro-am hobby until I retire from teaching HS theatre ...
but then cakes are just another form of theater....sort of sets in miniature...and so easy to fix (eat) the mistakes!
