I'm so tired I cannot think straight.

I need to make a cake for a baby shower and they want buttons.

Any other way to make the little buggers other than taking an impression with silicone plastique?

I thought there had been a thread about this but just cannot find it.

Anyone out there with some words of wisdom??

Thanks in advance!!

I roll the fondant into a ball about a half inch in diameter and the take the wooden fondant roller and use the end of the handle to squash the ball then take a #2 inch tip to cut out the button holes.

This is from Wilton's Tiered Cakes book.

"Roll white fondant balls, 1/2 in diameter, flatten to a 1 in cicrcle. Indent center of circles with flat end of craft knife. Use small opening of tip 1 to punch 2 holes in each button"

I have also read that some use an actual button to make the imprint from the circle.

HTH

P.S. By the way, your cakes are AWESOME!
