we're trying to help you -- all those things I mentioned are things a cake could look like

and as Little Linda asked-- which fraternity?

it really helps give suggestions if we know details like:

which fraternity?
what kind of event?
how long to prepare?
what type of cake: sheet? tiers? 3D?
what is your skill level?

Sorry, couldn't help myself. icon_lol.gificon_razz.gif

ETA: Which frat & for what function would help on giving some more specific ideas, but you could do a paddle, or a FBCT of the crest.

I like the bucket of beer idea and add the fraternity's greek letters onto the bucket or something.

Ok, well if it is for something fun, I'd go with the beer bucket or a paddle. However if it is for something nicer you could a sheet with a FBCT of their crest? Or even a stacked cake with and omega on top. It looks like their colors are purple and gold. According to their website http://www.omegapsiphifraternity.org/ Langston Huges is a notable member, so maybe you could find a poem of his and put it on the cake?

I know frat boys can be complete goobers in general, but they do have a sense of pride when it comes to things related to the fraternity.

well -- having researched the fraternity at
http://www.omegapsiphifraternity.org/default.asp and at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omega_Psi_Phi

still lots of options.

for a formal occasion such as the induction of new members, the fraternity's crest (upper left on intro page) would certainly be appropo.

less formal -- something that looks like a dog tag turned vertically w/ the three letters omega psi phi on it would be nice to -- gold tag, purple letters.

or

a sheet cake -- gold w/ purple accents -- letters across the top. and the motto across the bottom: "friendship is essential to the soul" would be nice too.
(bonus points for getting son to spell it out in Greek for you as the fraternity's letters come from the Greek translation)

and then far less formal would be the ideas already mentioned.

sounds like time to get the son to be more forthcoming w/ the event he wants it for.

wow, Doug, you even researched the fraternaty in order to help. You are awesome. So glad to be in the same "cake club" as you, if even by default. icon_smile.gif

I have a lot of request for frat and soro cakes. Normally they ask for the symbol or greek letters. I did a groom's cake of the tattoo he had for his frat. Happens to be Omega Psi Phi. Doug has done an excellent job of researching this for you. Colors are purple and gold and most consider themselves "Dog's". They throw their hands in the air like Druepy

Ohhhhhh yeah, how they love their gold boots!!!! For sure on that one. Now that is something I would love to do. I don't get many Q dogs requesting cakes mainly sororities. I might suggest that one if do get another Omega cake. (I've done 2....both similiar)

Yeah, the boot would look great, especially if it's covered in gold luster dust... If you or the author of this post decide to do it.. Debbie Brown has a 3d Boot cake..(old lady in a shoe...) you could use that design and just fo with it...
