How do I do the viva paper towel method? I experimented with it a couple of times, but was not satisfied with the results.

Here's the link to the article about it. I also use parchment paper. I do both when I'm doing it. I do the finishing part with parchment paper and seems smoother to me.

you know me either....I am going back to my parchment paper...for whatever reason i seem to be able to mess up the icing with the viva instead of just smoothing....dont know why that is...

I really like the viva method.

But, I keep hearing a lot about parchment...guess I'll have to break down and try it, lol!

Are you using a smoother on top of the PT or your hand? I use a smoothjer and have no problem.

I abandoned the whole parchment thing to use Viva. I first smooth over with the Viva using my hands to really rub out any flaws. That usually leaves a lot of finger and hand indents. So, when I am done with my hands, I then smooth over with the Viva using my fondant smoothers--gets those indents right out and the cake is nice and smooth.

I use my hand...dont have a fondant smoother yet...and I do think that is the problem....but it doesnt seem to be a problem with the parchment paper...I guess cause it is more stiff? Who knows...I just see finger prints and such with viva and not with Parchment.
