I had a request for a birthday cake for tomorrow, the birthday girl (mother of my friend) loves quilting, gardening, and birds....any ideas?! Thanks!!! 
How about a sheet cake made to look like a quilt and in the squares, you could do some flowers, some birds, etc.

How about a cake like the one I am posting but instead of bunnies and carrots you could have birds and a garden? Make the birds out of fondant. You could also put a little fence going around the sides of the cake.

If you're in a time crunch you could always go buy some pretty little plastic birds

Check this link. I think you can easily turn these chickens into any type of bird. Hope this helps. You could probably adapt these directions to forming the birds out of fondant also. Hope this helps.

a different idea...(i just did this) is to bake a cake inside a terra cotta pot and decorate the top with flowers...tie a ribbon around the pot! Cute for any women...especially a gardener! I got the idea when I searched the cc gallery for flower pot cakes! There are some pictures there!
