Hey i also need to find out this one have a christening cake for the weekend to make.
Was jusat going to stick on a tilted turn table and away not so sure now after reading post on turn table moving and cake breaking.
Think it will be a bit of patience needed on this cake also doing pipe work to never done before round sides of cake usually cheat with a piece of ribbon but fancied a change.
Prob wish i had'nt by thurs / fri when i swearing at cake.
For the Monogram, They say use COLOR FLOW, I USED ROYAL FROSTING. Then after they dried I brushed over them with LUSTER DUST. I attached them on the front of the cake with BC. Hope this helps. ![]()
A few tricks - I am a bad freehand piper with letters so I gave up and now do one of these:
Use Word. Word Perfect, or whatever document program you have and find a font you like. Make it BOLD. Enlarge it to a good size - like 72, 82, or for really big, type in your own - 94 or something. Print it out. Put a piece of wax paper over your letters (tape to your work surface so it doesn't move). Use royal icing to trace the letters using a stiff icing consistancy. Then, make your icing a little less stiff (add water) and "flood" your outlined letters (fill in the blank space). Let dry for 24 hours. Peel off and apply to cake.
You can also let the icing dry on the side of your cake pan if you want it to have some curve to fit to your cake.
The next thing you can do is make your letters out of fondant using little letter cookie cutters (they sell them all together). Cut out the letters and presto - you have your message!
Hope this helps!![]()
