I did cornelli lace on the edges and tops of a bc cake. I used the same bc icing and added some piping gel to it for the cornelli.

Once it dries (crusting bc), the cornelli falls off if I touch it. I sometimes have the same problem with basketweave after it dries. When I go to cut the cake, the basketweave starts to fall off.

Any ideas why this is happening or what to do besides adding piping gel?

Thanks.

Maybe it's too dry and needs a little more liquid added to the batch of icing your using to do the corn. lace.

i put a book under my cake plate so that it tilts slightly. Gravity gets it to adhere to the cake better.

It seems to adhere fine to the cake when I'm putting it on. It's just that after it dries, it falls off if I touch it or bump it.

Doesn't this happen to anyone else?

Happens with a couple of different bc recipes, too.

icon_confused.gif Hm...never happened to me...

Are you applying a thin layer of bc and then putting the basketweave on? (You're not putting it right on the cake with no icing, are you?)

And why do you add piping gel? I've never done that I just use regular bc.

projectqueen-you are not the only one! My basketweave has fallen off in the past once it dried. I'm hoping to find an answer as well! Jodie
