Does Anyone Have The 12" Petal Pan?
Decorating By projectqueen Updated 18 Jul 2007 , 4:51pm by projectqueen
Would anyone who has the Wilton 12" petal pan be willing to either scan part the insert or trace from the bottom of the pan a few of the petals and email it to me?
I really only need 2 or 3 of the scallops since they are all the same size. Whatever would fit on a regular 8/12 x 11 page would be fine.
I just need to make a template of the actual size and shape of this pan and I don't have access to it. I stink at freehand so could really use some help with the template.
Oh, and could you confirm that there are 8 scallops on the 12" pan?
Thanks so much!
Here's a link to the pan on the Wilton site:

If you click the link, it takes you to the pan instructions here:

You can enlarge the picture to whatever size you need.

Thanks.
I'm looking for the 12" petal pan that's part of the 4 piece set. I think the cake pan in your link is slightly different.
Also, I need the actual scale of the 12" cake, not an enlargement.
how's this?
it was drawn at 1/2 inch scale based on a scan of the pan
please note: the petals are NOT the same size --- those top/bottom/left/right are one size. the diagonals ones a different size (this verified by measuring my 12" petal pan --- the larger ones are 5 in across the intersection and the smaller ones 4.5
That's great Doug, but how would I print that so it's full size?
Interesting that the scallops are not all even.
I understand that it's 1/2" scale, but not sure how to convert that to my full size paper template.
Thanks so much for helping the mathematically challenged! ![]()

I prefer MS Publisher
but could do it in Word
insert as a pic from file
then format so it is in front of text.
then holding shift/control down -- drag until large.
now since it is a 12 in pan -- you have to print it out in sections on 11in paper (unless you have legal paper)
to gauge size...
draw a line (drawing tool bar) and make it 12 in long.
put it on top of pic.
scale pic until it is the same size vertically and horizontally as the line.
in Publisher much easier as can create a custom paper size like 14x14 and then it will tile the printout over several sheets of paper.
same idea of using drawn line to gauge size of pic (and in Publisher there is even a measurement tool bar you can use to be sure line is 12 in long)
Thanks, Doug.
Oddly, when I get it to be approximately 12" across, the intersection of the smaller petals is only approx. 3.75" and the larger is approx. 4.25" as opposed to your 4.5" and 5".
I don't have MS Publisher so I used Word. Maybe that's the difference?
Thanks for the instructions!
Yes, I'm measuring the black lines.
It's close enough now anyway because it's close to 12" from side to side. There's always going to be variation in thickness of icing, etc.
I'm glad you told me about the petals being different sizes, though, I would have tried to make them all the same and wondered why it wasn't working. ![]()
It must be a challenge using these pans to make a stacked cake, though, getting the upper tiers to line up with the right size scallop on the tier below. Thankfully, mine is just one size.
Thanks again, Doug! ![]()
