Hi,
Just wondering if someone out there has done this before (am sure there is someone!)

Anyways... I have made letters and the customer wants them dippied in gold (to top cup cakes)... i have tried dipping with dipping solution, but seems to make the fondant/gum paste go too soft - and sometimes break.

I have tried painting them, but it streaks a bit if you're not super careful... and with 60 of them to make the simpler the better.

Thanks for any help

Yes, you will get streaks if you paint it, especially if the mixture does not have enough gold dust on it. Also, sometimes it takes more than one coat to give the look you desire.

Have you considered air brushing it?

You could also try sheets of gold leaf, but they are difficult to work with if you do not have experience. Once they fold up, you will not get them apart.
