I am worried cause this will be my first big 3-D cake. And of course in put from my DD will be intersting. She is very creative. I don't know where she get it ![]()
Thanks in advance for your help
Get the Wilton 3-D Stand-up House pan. It will definitely make your work easier. If you need a lot of cake, you can always make a cake base out of a 13x9 cake.

tmriga I haven't seen the 3-d stand up pan you are talking about. We will definitely look in to it. We don't nessecarily need alot of cake as the kids will be taking there own creations home. But she wants a castle with the turrets. I might use some dummies for this cake. But my sisters family loves cake so I know I can get ride of cake. But for cost I may do the dummies. Have never used dummies. She wants it big not huge but big. Does that make since. She wants a show cake. Thanks for your info ![]()

Don't forget the ghosts lurking around the graveyard! ![]()
Ya she said she wants ghosts but not sure how I want to make them yet got any ideas as to what to use. I thought about cookies or chocolate??? And we thought we cound get some cotton candy in the bags at walmart and use for cobwebs. Kind of pull it apart real thin. I don't know if it will work but we are going to get some to try out our idea to see if it will work. Thanks for input she is so excited
I say you get directions from some of these awesome castle cakes on this site.....and just modify them.....make them orange and black instead of pink and purple and put the broken fence and such around it on the cake board, maybe some little head stones from fondant....little skeletons (most candy stores sell little candy ones) tons of little piped on spiderwebs on the castle with spiders........maybe mold a bunch of little bats and put them on wires coming out of the top of the castle like they're flying over top. there are tons of things you could do...you could even do a little doll cake just for your daughter that looks like a witch or something? I don't know if the cotton candy will work for cobwebs, but I bet some white cotton candy would look really cool all around the ground around the castle ........like swamp gas (fog) type of stuff............man, this makes me want to make one LOL Can't wait to see what you come up with.
Thanks for the cool ideas KHalstead. After school I will tell her your ideas and she will be so excited again. thanks again I will definately post the pics after her b-day
OMG What a groovy cake that woudl be. Cant wai;t to see pics. I was also thinking cotton candy for ghosts? Can you get white cotton candy? I dont eat the stuff, probably never have lol. think it might be like using cotton- I've used cotton swabbing batting whatever to make ghosts before
what if you just put a ball of fondant on the tip of a toothpick and secure the toothpick with a fondant base at the bottom (to make it stable and to stick it to your cake board) and then just lay a thin layer of white fondant draped over the whole thing........you could even get creative and put "arms" on the toothpick so that it looks like the ghosts arms are outstretched does that make sense??? Like it would look like a sheet ghost......then you could use black royal icing or a black food marker and make little eyes on the "sheet"!!
