OK, here's the deal. I baked a cake for the folks at work last week. Next thing I know, my boss's boss is asking if I'd like to make one for an upcoming meeting.

The meeting has a futuristic theme. I have no clue what to do, but I did go out and buy silver luster dust! Have any of you ever created a cake with this kind of theme? Any ideas or suggestions for what I can do? I'm thinking stainless steel and maybe some neon coloring? Help!!

Thanks a bunch!!

What kind of business is it for? You can do a google search of futuristic _______ (buildings, cars, etc) and get some ideas? Tell us a bit more and we'll put our thinking caps on.

Thanks for helping me get the juices, flowing! I work for a technology company. So, I was thinking about using a digital image of one of our products on top of the cake, but couldn't figure out how to decorate the sides, bottom, etc.

Our labs have a lot of stainless steel and we're looking to the future, so I'm really trying to figure out how to make it look really sleek and shiny. Thoughts?

Fondant is the only thing that will give you the sleek look. Color it gray or silver, paint it with silver luster dust (mixed with vodka or lemon juice or clear extract). That will make it look shiny and metalic.
