Morning guys!
I have my first paid cake!!!! I am doing a Supergirl sheet cake for a birthday party. I am also doing star shaped mini cakes. Does anyone know of a pourable colored icing to help me quickly cover the mini cakes since I have 25 of them to do. I want to do them white, light pink and dark pink and sure don't want to stand there and ice each one. Hoping I can just pour colored icing like a ganache.???
TIA
Machel
If you are looking for REALLY easy you can use the tubbed frosting from the store and then heat it up...30 seconds at a time till you get a ganache kind of consistency and pour it over. The frosting is sweet but, it works! Makes them look like petit fours.
(I like ganache myself but, I tried this once!)

This is a really good tip!
I found this recipe on sugarcraft.com. I used this recipe to cover petit fours before and was pleased with the outcome.
Mix 1 cup of water and 1/4 cup of light corn syrup in a large microwave safe mixing bowl. Stir in about 3 lbs of powdered sugar and whatever flavoring you want to use. My most popular one is lemon. Microwave for 2 minutes, stir and microwave for another minute. It will be much warmer than most other recipes for poured fondant.
Thanks for posting the recipe... will going to try this.

When I tried this recipe, I baked a sheet cake then I iced the top and cut into squares and froze them. Then I took a few out at a time and placed them on a cooling rack with a pan under the rack and poured icing over the squares. You can reuse the icing that falls in the pan.
