I have just made these for the first time. Mine did not get the rounded edge around the top, like I see in all the pictures. You can see a picture of them in my gallery.

Can anyone offer any suggestions as to what I can do next time to make the bun look more like a bun? The recipe I used was for a yellow cake layer.

Thank you!

You might try adding a bit more batter to the cup. I use tuna cans for my hamburgers and chocolate chip cookies with cocoa powder added for the hamburger bun.

1st of all...i just looked at them and they are adorable!! I will agree however, if you want a more rounded top, you should try filling the pan a little higher with batter so it will "poof" more.

Good luck!

I actually tried that (adding more batter) first and they were flat as a pancake on top. They spread out so much that the tops were touching. I didn't like the way those looked and made another batch, which I used.

Was it a box mix or scratch? I use box mix that requires water, egg, and oil. THen I add the extender. If your recipe uses butter, that could be a reason.

It was scratch and it does have butter in it. What does the butter do to it?

Not sure, I just know that when I use a scratch recipe with butter in it, it does not "dome" as much.
