I'm making a small 3 tiered cake . One 8 in. layer, one 6 in. layer and one 4 in. layer. How much icing should I set aside for just for the shell borders?

2 cups should be plenty. it will depend on the size tip you use also.

Thanks! I need a tutorial for how much icing to use for each different size of cake! I guess it's trial and error for most people.
