I have a request for a fondant dummy cake similar to the one in the picture below for AUGUST! Anyone have any idea how this elegant lettering might have been done? I cant seem to find stencils or cutters like this and I'm sure not good enough at handwriting to pull it off with piping royal icing.
Help!!
Thanks,
Becca
It looks like it's stenciled on with luster dust to me. Maybe you can make your own stencil if you can't find one. I know they sell the kits at craft stores. Or you can just print out the words on your computer and cut them with an exacto knife to make your own stencil.
Good Luck

Thats what I was going to suggest I always make my own stencils. Use your computer to print out what you want in any font then just place a thin sheet of plastic or vinyl over it and use an exacto to cut it out. You can also place wax paper over it and pipe with RI, I tape the wax paper to the pan I used to bake the cake. When it dries carefully peel off wax paper and place it on the cake. This gives you a 3d effect where the letters are standing out a bit if you do a couple of layers of RI. Hope this helps I know that on paper I have great handwriting but for writing on cakes it never seems to come out nice.

I can tell by the lettering that it is very possible that those are Tappits cutters, by FMM. They are imported from the UK.

I had to replicate a coors light bottle for a Grooms cake.. I thought How in the Heck am I going to get the lettering exactly like the bottle??? Without any tools other than my brain! LOL
I printed out the lettering backwards.. you know using a photo shop program and flipped the letters.. then i traced over the letters with an edible marker onto a piece of wax paper. and placed it onto my fondant.. rubbed it lightly and then peeled it off..TADA! Worked out perfect.. then I used my other edible markers and finished coloring it..
There is a site that I use called vinylattractions that makes quotes etc in viynyl lettering that looks handpainted. If you are going to use a dummy couldn't you just apply that? They will do them with the spacing, font, size, color that you request. Maybe it wouldn't apply correctly to fondant but just a thought. You may just want to call the customer service and she could give you some ideas for transferring onto a cake. They are very nice there...I've ordered multiple times for things for my house.

Do they make tappits that big?? All of the ones I have are much smaller, but I would love to find some biggers ones -- the small ones are awesome!!
