Any ideas or pictures out there for a hippie / bohemian wedding cake? It's for an outdoor fall wedding; the bridesmaids are wearing paisley and it's all going to be very funky and laid back. The cake will only need to serve 100 people. I'd love some input!

tie-dye! (oh no!!! but it was my first thought)

and peace symbol
and happy face
and beads
and flip flops

of course -- you could do paisley on the cake too!

I really like ombaker's idea! thumbs_up.gif I think that the paisley idea is probably your most elegant approach to this. I would also love to see what you come up with. Please PM me with your picture when this project is complete. The daisies are a definite must! icon_wink.gif

The bride stopped by with swatches of the fabric today. It is paisley with sage greens, earthy browns, some pale oranges and a creamy off-white color. I'd like to try putting the actual paisley pattern on the cake. Has anyone ever done this? Is there a paisley fondant cutter or press out there somewhere?

This has nothing to do with design of the cake but wilton just came out with a paisley pan set for three tiers.

Another thing that would be cool is to use the "paisley" cake pans from Wilton (new this year). That would look awesome with her colors and flowers or a pattern on the cake.

Hiya dorothy n welcome to c.c.
You could cut the paisley shapes freehand (goes more with the au naturalle boho thing). and then take some colors n paint em the same way that the actual material is colored. Let em dry or let the paint dry n then apply em to the cake. Anything hindu would work good too. Like the mendhi patterns done in royal would look kewl.

I like the paisley idea too - but just for something else to look at... I did a Hippy Birthday theme cake. It's in my photos, we did fondant to look like tie-dye. You could always change the colors.

Good luck - what a fun theme!
