Hi

I'm attempting floodwork for the first time... all is going well - so far! The only thing I'm not sure of is if there is a 'trick' to sliding the picture off the silicon paper and onto the cake? and also, will BC icing affect the image? make it run/liquify? Don't want to ruin the damn thing after all the effort I'm putting into it!

Thanks for any advice!

Fi

The trick is to use the edge of the table or counter. As you pull it to the edge start slowly pulling down on the paper...just be sure to "catch" the piece. The key is slowly. No buttercream should not affect it if it is dry. thumbs_up.gif

just incase...i have used an exacto knife and cut the paper around my image and put it on the cake with the plastic just incase the butter cream would ruin it. i told the people to watch out for the plastic.

The advice above is good. However, for next time you might consider piping on plastic wrap/saran wrap because the backing will peel right off with no effort at all once the pieces are dry.

I do mine onto a clear film. Make sure they are really dry before attempting to release. I just slide a crank handled palette knife under mine

OK, I feel like an idiot for asking, but what is floodwork? Is is similar to colorflow or Royal Icing runout?

I always do colorflow on baking parchment, and when the pieces are completely dry, they literally come loose from the parchment. (Don't do what I did once and turn quickly with the baking sheet in hand. All four pieces slid right off onto the floor.)
