i have a request for a middle finger cake, feeding eight. i'm not really sure how to really even begin. i would definately assume it needed to be covered in some sort of fondant, but does anyone know of any pictures or templates to get me started. i've never done a hand or someting so small in fondant. any help would be appreciated. thanks, nicole

Have you looked in the "naughty cakes" section? I"m sure there would be one out there.

do they want 3D or flat.

flat == just cut to shape and ice. (trace own hand in the pose and then take to photocopier and enlarge to size needed -- should easily work by cutting a 9x13 or 11x15 to shape since you only need 8 servings)

3D -- modeling chocolate or gumpaste hand in the pose on top of a small round cake.

(method someone on CC used -- filled a plastic glove w/ melted chocolate and then shaped and let set -- but for this design, afraid the appendage in question would be to fragile that way)

My question is why would someone want a cake like that?

To answer your question have you tried modeling chocolate? That would work pretty well. Just use your own hand as a model.

What about using rice kriskie treat and mold to form an upright hand, then cover with flesh colored fondant

if they want 3d, duff did the school of rock cake, and you could base it off of that one, but with a different finger combination icon_biggrin.gif

I would do the rice cereal treats as well. Put it on a decorated cake.
