Does anyone have a trick to frosting minicakes?

I tried some that I made with 2 inch and 3 inch cookie cutters, and the spatula knocked them over while I was trying to crumb coat, made me batty. I was putting fondant on them so a nice crumb wasn't as important, but I think BC tastes a million times better (no matter what kind of fondant you use)!

that is a grat question. I would like to know too. And I totally agree with you that b/c tastes better than fondant. i think fondant looks awesome, but the taste leaves something to be desired.

Try the MMF recipe on this website. It's marshmallow fondant and every one states it takes so much better than store bought fondant. I haven't tried it yet but will soon.

How tall are the cakes? I used the icing tip to ice some I did and it worked well. Went around the cake and then across the top smoothed with spatuala at the seams and used Viva to finish. It was time consuming, but yes buttercream is better!
