This is for all of you MMF users. Is there a way that I can get a shiny look from my fondant surface without causing my cake a meltdown or having to brush silver luster dust all over it? I have a cake design that needs a fairly shiny surface and I don't want to mute the color of the fondant down too much by using the silver luster dust. Please help ![]()
Thank you for your time
Lynne
I have seen people steaming fondant cakes in the challenges on the food network to make them shiny.
I was at the Celebrity Cake Competition on Nashville a few weeks ago and one of the competitors from Food Network put plastic globes (surgery kind) and then crisco to make black fondant very shiny. I asked my teacher who was sitting next to me and she said that the crisco and the steamer are used to make fondant shiny. Hope this help.
Good luck!
Laly
Thanks for all your help and I guess it is experiment time!
