I delivered the Master Chief promotion cake today....you'd think she was getting married instead of retiring from 30 years in the US Navy!!

She took one look at the buffet set up with fruit and vegetable art (the kind you see on cruise ships) and the cake and just teared!!!! She was so emotional she had to put her hand up to her mouth in disbelief that this was all for her!!!! I tell you, the Navy is losing someone special but they are better for having her 30 years!!!

She was so giddy and all over the place before the ceremony it was like a bride on her wedding day!!! icon_rolleyes.gif She said "I need to pay you!" It took her 30 minutes to get to write the check. She was carrying it all over the place trying to get the final touches to the ceremony set up. She finally got back to me and asked "How much!" I told her $65 and her eyes went wide and her mouth dropped open!! icon_surprised.gif I thought she was going to say that that was too much. Instead she said "That's all!!" icon_eek.gificon_eek.gif She wrote me a check for $90!! icon_eek.gificon_eek.gif I told her that I couldn't accept that and she said "YES!!" She was so thankful and so happy!!! As I stated in a post a little while back, it feels good and humbling to be a part of history in the making!!!!

Thought I would share!!!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Thank you both!!! I will never never forget this day! I guess it's extra special to me because my husband is in the Navy and I know we'll be there some day. Maybe not 30 years but 20 for sure! We have 10 more to go!!

Great job on the cake !!! What a nice story, too. The same thing happened to me about a month ago. Made the pink baptism cake on my photos and my friend wouldn't accept that I wanted $25.00 for the cake (she is a good friend). She paid me $40 which I thought was very sweet of her. It was the first paid cake I made for anyone.

I'm so glad your friend loved her cake! That makes it all so fun and worth it !!!

It's a wonderful feeling isn't it when someone appreciates all the work you put into what you love to do!

To me its unlike ANYTHING else. And I am just getting started.

You know what? When your heart & soul is into what you do & some appreciates it that much, its like a high, a dream.

I love this cake decorating & I am so glad that everyone here loves it just like me icon_wink.gif

Just makes me tear up thinking about it!

And here I thought it was going to be a Bridezilla story! However, I am certainly glad it wasn't. It was a stunningly beautiful cake.
