Im throwing DH a 50th party in a couple of week for about 30-40 people. He wants italian sausage done on the grill, but i have no clue what else to make and serve. ive only ever done kiddies partys, not ones for grownups. any ideas, recipes, even menus would be great. id like everything to go together. It will be in the evening, outside, TX heat, just friendly fun. ill have wine, beer and cold drinks. any help will be so appreciated.

Hi! Sounds like your party will be lots of fun! If you're having Italian sausage, I'd suggest making a sauteed pepper and onion mix to put over the sausage ... it's very yummy! You can have sausage sandwiches with crusty rolls ... that will go great with the pepper/onion mix. Then, you can have salads ... pasta salad, potato salad, macaroni salad, etc. Appetizers are always good ... veggie pizza, spinach-artichoke dip with tortilla chips, chips and salsa, pita chips and hummus, etc. Of course, birthday cake for dessert! icon_smile.gif Fresh fruit is always great in the summer ... get some cherries, berries, melons, and cut up in a bowl. If you go to foodnetwork.com, you can also get lots of great ideas! Hope this helps! icon_smile.gif

Whenever I make Buffalo Chicken Dip, it's always big hit. Here's the recipe:

2 (10 ounce) cans chunk chicken, drained
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
1 cup Ranch dressing
3/4 cup pepper sauce, such as Franks® Red Hot®
1 1/2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese

1 bunch celery, cleaned and cut into 4 inch pieces
1 (8 ounce) box chicken-flavored crackers
DIRECTIONS
Heat chicken and hot sauce in a skillet over medium heat, until heated through. Stir in cream cheese and ranch dressing. Cook, stirring until well blended and warm. Mix in half of the shredded cheese, and transfer the mixture to a slow cooker. Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the top, cover, and cook on Low setting until hot and bubbly. Serve with celery sticks and crackers.

I know you are going Italian BUT I made appetizers for a party once using the Goya Empanada Circles. Mine were made with Mexican meats but they would really be good with some of those meatballs you can buy at Sam's cut up with a little spaghetti sauce and cheese. These are sealed with water and a fork and baked not fried. They were such a big hit and the dough is very light.
