Is It Just Me Who Cannot Print Pictures In The Gallery?
Decorating By BakingGirl Updated 23 Jul 2007 , 8:18pm by ABCupcake

I am having a bit of techno problems tonight. I have been trying to print out some baby bootie templates from the gallery on CC, but when I look at the print out everything is there except the picture. I had the same problem with two different templates. Is it a new feature on CC to stop copying or am I being dense? I have printed from the galleries in the past without problems.

me too! i am trying to save pics to my comp and i can't!

At least I know now that I had not totally lost all computer skills. Kept trying and going ????? Hopefully it is just a bug of some sort. Hopefully it is not something that has been put in place as a reaction to the copying of photos to pass off as your own on websites. That would be a shame.

bakinggirl - that's the first thing that came to my mind too, there has been so many forums of people throwing fits about people copying pics. I hope this is not what is going on . . . . .

Let us keep fingers crossed it is just a temporary bug!

let's not draw conclusions until we know for sure . . . . . and everyone pray this is not the case!

Well I don't know about you, but I don't have a computer in my kitchen, and I'm cursed with dialup, so going and fetching a picture out of my pages and pages of favorites when I'm in the middle of decorating a cake, isn't the most convenient thing. Plus I email clients pictures of cakes I think they might be interested in. I always give credit where credit is due and I know 95% of people on here do. I can't stand it when a few bad apples ruin it for everyone else.
Hopefully this isn't the case.

does anyone have the answer to this i'm goin nuts!!!

Have you tried to email it to yourself as an ecard?
I have just done this and I have it in the email but have not printed it out as yet so am not sure if it is the correct size. Will let you know.
Have just printed it off, took three pages but it is okay. I think next time I would copy and paste from the email into another programme. Let me know how everyone else gets on.
Edited to say... Don't forget to copy and paste instructions as they do not come through with the template.

nope, I can't email either. It keeps saving or emailing the pic as "spacer" and just opens a blank page. Anyone else?

just to let you know it seems to be working now

tiffany how are you doing it? mine is still just saving a blank page

Mine is also still just a blank. I will send off a PM to the administrators to alert them to the problem.

just tried and it is NOT working for me.
getting "spacer.gif" at all turns
ditto on it making gallery, esp. all the sketches, patterns, and templates, useless.
(even noted one photo on home page was a black square -- said it was supposed to be a baby shower cake, but when clicked got the spacer.gif thing.

When you right click to save to computer it saves a blank file named spacer. When you drag and drop to make it open into a window by it self it opens a blank file named spacer.
I've not tried printing and I've not tried emailing since a few weeks ago. But I imagine this is due to all the things that have happened in the last week with the photos and stuff and is a security precaution... Just a thought which I'm probably wrong but figured I'd state what it may be due to.
You can still add to favorites, which is normally how I show my clients cakes from CC or just cruising the galleries with them... I don't generally save to my computer except for the ones I've gotten permission to use on my website... which seems is out now unless I get the actual file from the creator lol....

blah, it did work for like a min.. now it's back to the gif's however youcan still save the thumbnails as they are listed as jpegs.

Can't print it, can't save it. Hopefully not because of a few recent posts about copied pics. I too print pictures to have them nearby for inspiration, but if any of you know me, then you know I always ask the originator before I "copy" a cake and post my pics. <sigh> You can always ask the originator to email a copy of the picture.

to collate all the threads about not being able to save pics:

IF and mind you that's IF! this is a result of recent "concerns" -- let's see that last one was a 17 pages over 2 threads flogging a dead horse hissy-fit...
then i suggest we all go look in the mirror at the source of the problem.
we have only ourselves to blame
1) for not taking proper care of others photos when we save them
2) for not giving proper credit where credit is due.
3) for brow beating, running into the ground, kicking a dog when it's down, flogging a dead horse --
in short -- being MERCYLESS -- to someone who makes a mistake -- even an honest mistake.
I for one am sadden IF - and mind you IF -- it is this case that this is a new policy to prevent future contretemps as there goes all my work on the templates down the drain.
Hopefully, this is but another time to kick the server glitch.

further:
it will do us little good to:
moan, bemoan, weep, wail, lament, decry, belabor, or otherwise drag the fingernails across the blackboard
until there has been an "official" response from "on high"

I'd love to know what coding they used to do this so I could do it on my website lol. Not because I'm worried about my photos but because I've gotten permission from other's to use theirs as well and I'd hate for something to happen lol
So if anyone knows of the coding that could drop me a line with it I'd appreciate it

Yes, well said Doug
There really isn't anything you can do to prevent people from saving pictures from the web - except if you don't upload them in the first place.
Let it be up to the owners of the pictures to decide if they want to share, but give them a fair warning of the consequences if they do.
I just found a way to get the pictures downloaded, but I'm not sharing
The thing CC did to prevent this is to put a transparent image on top of all the pictures. The transparent image is named "spacer.gif"
