I really want to learn now to make more gumpast/fondant flowers besides the rose I learned in Course 3. Does anyone have the Wilton flower cutter set? Have you used it? Would it be a good buy? If not what would you suggest the best way to learn other flowers is?

TIA!!!

i bought it but i havent used it yet, i got it with a 40% off coupon. you get alot with it but you still need to get the stamens and wires and such for the flowers. its part of the reason i havent used mine yet, didnt get the other things yet and i know the flowes wont look finished without them. i've read that its great for starters though so i say get it.

I have the Wilton set and have used it. I'm not going to knock it, but I prefer the gumpaste cutters by Scott Clark Woolley. Scott's cutters are pricey, but the cutters will last for years and the results are worth it.

I have it and think it is a good place to start. The instructions are clear and the photos are step by step.

The kit is a good starting point. I used it to make the flowers on my first wedding cake. Then, you can upgrade later.

However, I think the flowers in their pictures are not that great and I found the instructions very difficult to follow.

It wouldn't hurt to get some other resources for directions, like books or online tutorials.

Good Luck!

I htink you would be better off buying a set of cutters and veiners for each flower you want to do, rather than getting a huge set of lessor quality (wilton) that has some cutters you might never use. Just my opinion. I bought the wilton set when I started, and once I found the higher quality stuff I tossed the wilton set (plus i think the wilton instructions leave something to be desired).
