I am making my nephew a smash cake for his 1st birthday and it is going to be a fire helment and need advise on how to make the plate to go in the front of the helment.

how about tracing a picture, and cutting it out of petel paste/ gumpaste and painting it with edible paint. thats how i did my football cake.
