I am going to make a cake very similar to this in September and i am just trying to plan now. I am going to buy fondant (fondx, unless you suggest something else) and was trying to think of the best way to get this color. The cake is going to be 3 tiers, 6" 10" and 14" so clearly I will be covering a lot. Thanks for your help in advance.

I'd start with an ivory base (Satin Ice makes one) and add very, very small amounts of brown. It kinda looks like it's in the taupe family (at least on my computer it does) so you might need a hint of gray in it.

HTH!

Oh gosh that's going to be gorgeous! I don't have color ideas but I do agree it looks like a taupe color on my computer... possibly with a smidge of mauve to it? Please keep us updated on how it turns out. I'd love to see your final product or even your practice. icon_smile.gif

I was thinking it looked like Americolors Warm Brown to me.

I agree with Darkchocolate. It does look like a light touch of Americolor warm brown: http://shop.cakecentral.com/warm-brown-food-color-p-994.html

I would also start with Ivory - looks like some kind of light coffee colour to me. Maybe cappiccino??? icon_confused.gif It is a beautiful colour though - just love it.

I agree. I would start with ivory and then be very sparing with the brown until you get it just right. Don't forget to start with enough fondant to cover the entire cake. It's a real bugger to color a second batch the exact same shade!! icon_cry.gif
