i have to leave my fondant covered cake out overnite. does anyone have any suggestions on how i can protect it? not that anyone will be up during the night but my DH gets up early for work and i'm so afraid an accident might happen. paranoid, i guess.
anyway, what do you all do when you have to leave your cakes out overnite? do you protect them with any type of 'cover'?

I've put mine in a cake keeper or on top of the kitchen cabinets- up by the ceiling. I'm afraid the dog might get to them if I don't have it covered up or way out of his reach.

...depends on the size....do ya have a box it will fit in or that you can put upside down over it? If mine is too big for a box, I'll put it out in our motorhome.

Depending on the size, I put it in a cake box or my cake tote. I then set it on my dining room table since nobody even walks in there. Also, I alert the household that a cake is in there "just in case".

Can you saran wrap it if it won't hurt the decorations. Sometimes I'll do that with a fondant cake if it has to be left out overnight, as long as there are no painted decorations on it.

Aha! The perfect solution! I'll just go buy a motorhome to put it in!

Sorry icon_lol.gif just kidding..

LOL... sounds good to me.

i found a temporary solution until i can go tomorrow to get the box i need to transport it in.
i built a little fortress around it out of cups and a foam board 'roof'. its no motorhome but it'll have to do. icon_smile.gif

thanks, everyone, for all your help.

Have you thought about using one of those Rubbermaid storage tote things? You know, what you store your seasonal things in? I 'm doing a 3 tier cake tonight for a party tomorrow, and that's what I'm going to have to use, since it DEFINATELY won't fit in a cake box.
