I think I ruined my chocolate fondant. I added melted chocolate so now the consistency is messed up. It is soft but crackly. I tried adding water and crisco but that just made it gooey. then I added powdered sugar but its not helping. I cant get it smooth and I kneaded it quite a while. Can this batch be saved? If not I will have to make a trip to the store and its late. icon_cry.gif

I had the same problem when I used melted chocolate. Sorry...use that batch for a snack.

Then, get some cocoa powder and add it to the soupy stage of the marshmallows, stir, and then add the powdered sugar. You won't use all of the powdered sugar, just keep adding it until the dough won't incorporate any more.

Use regular cocoa powder for light to medium brown fondant. Use Hershey's special dark dutch processed cocoa (I found some at Target, Wal-Mart didn't have it) for dark brown and black fondant.

I agree, cocoa is the way to go to make chcoclate fondant from MMF. Go careful with that 'snack' - you may never sleep from the sugar rush icon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

Thanks. I will have to try the dark cocoa powder when I get the courage to try chocolate fondant again.icon_smile.gif I ended up buying the pettinice chocolate fondant from a bakery. It works really well. the cake is turning out cute. It was my friend's design. I'll post pictures when finished. Thanks for your help. icon_smile.gif
