The bride wants 4 stacked tiers (round) & servings for 150. The top tier will be saved.

According to Earlenes chart which is a little more generouse on serving sizes, I will need to use 14", 12", 10", and 8". That will serve 155.

I stacked my pans and it looked ok to me. I just dont know about an 8" being the smallest tier.

Is this a good combination choice to yall?

Thanks
Shelly

Shelly,

If the top tier is being saved, then it doesn't get factored into the servings. Won't you be short by about 10 servings?

I usually prefer the look of a 6" round as the top tier, just my personal preference.

Kerri, your seashell cake is stunning!

I just made a cake with 14, 10, 8, and 6. Without the top tier it would serve 110, so it seems to me that you should be fine with a 14, 12, and a 10.

I too prefer the look of a 6 on the top, but after looking at Kerri's cake I might change my mind...that cake is beautiful!!

I also prefer the look of a 6" as the top tier.

perhaps you can do the sizes you mentioned, but add a 6" tier to the top that they can save, that way it looks more proportionate and they have more than enough to serve. the six inch adds 12 servings to your number
