I'm doing a wedding cake for 100 people. I was going to do 12 10 and 8 inch cakes. In reading Cake Bible she says that will feed more than 150 people and that the tiers should be 12 9 6. This is a pool party reception and I don't think there is other dessert. My main concern is how it will look? I'm sure I'll have plenty of cake.

Have any of you used 12 10 8?

Thx

For wedding cakes I don't count the 6in. tier because it's not being served, so I would use a 14, 10 and 6 in. That would feed 116 according to Wilton's chart.

So you are saying that the 14 and 10 inch alone will feed 116? I was going to bake an extra 6 inch and give it to them in a box.

The largest pan I have is 12 inches that's why I was doing 12 10 and 8

Guess I can do 12 9 and 6 plus a 6 inch to take home.

Yes, those 2 will feed 116. A 12,10,& 8 will feed 118 if you are serving all 3 tiers. If you don't have a 14 in pan, those sizes will work. Keep in mind that it will give you a different look. You won't have as much space on the sides. I usually make my wedding cake sizes 4 inches apart.

Thx, maybe I'll go get a 14 inch pan and do 14 9 and 6 but then that kind of messes up my plan for the top. Errr should have checked on this earlier.

If your going to use a 14 in. I would use a 10 in. instead of the 9 in. It will give you the same spacing between tiers. If you go with the larger tiers just box up the 6 in. for them to keep.
