how much time do you have? If you have at least two days I think colorflow would work really good .. I think colorflow is so simple to use but you can do some pretty neat things with it ...

Let me try to understand... do you want the girl and boy standing up or flat on the cake?
If you want them flat you need fbct, check the tutorial here at CC:
http://www.cakecentral.com/article12-How-To-Create-a-Frozen-Buttercream-Transfer.html

If you want them standing up you need to use color flow. If you need instructions I can scan my wilton book and send them to you.

you can print them out on edible paper..then cut them out.

put a little gum tragacanth into some fondant, roll them out and "glue" the picture onto the fondant..then cut around it...

or you can just get some ready to use gumpaste..sorry..and do the same...I have a spa cake posted to my pictures...

hope this helps...

color flow is almost like royal icing .. you make it very thick for an outline of whatever you want, then thin it down with water, color it whatever colors you need and then fill in your ourtline .. I always use it with parchment bags because it hardens like cement in other bags ... it takes about 24 hours to dry you can buy colorflow in a container at joanns or michaels .. I think the recipe is one pound sugar one tablespoon colorflow and then water ... I have a colorflow elephant and deer loaded in my picture gallery ..

I saw Duff on Food Network do something like this last week. He/they used gumpaste to cut the figure out and let dry. Next ? is what is color flow? Well it is often called run sugar or flow sugar. It is made simular to royal icing but you thin it down to out line and flow the design inside the outlines. here is the Wilton site explanation: http://www.wilton.com/recipes/recipesandprojects//icing/colorflow.cfm HTH you some.

or you could do a chocolate lollipop and use the photo as a template and cut the chocolate out when it's not completely hard yet and stick a lollipop stick into it and let it harden and then stick the stick into the top of the cake. Maybe use a dark chocolate and then pipe the white on with royal for the details.
