Hi,
As you can imagine as you bake you find yourself making the same thing over and over again. I'm starting to get bored with what I do, I use cake mixes and I would like to hear some other inovative ideas so I can "kick it up a notch" or a few notches, wether it be cake, fillings or flavorings. Thanks ![]()
well, I know there are tons of liqueur out there that you can use to brush on baked unfrosted cakes that flavors and moistens........for childrens cakes you can brush on jello before it has set up for a fruity flavored cake and it also wil make the cake different colors for you....(kids love that) also......there are some really nice seedless jams on the market (polaner is yummy) that make good fillings........or you can mix them into bc for a creamier fruity filling (yummy too) I'm sure if you can think it you can probably put it in there as a filling.........I've also heard of using the flavored coffee syrups instead of liqueurs since they're alcohol free.......you could brush a chocolate cake with a hazelnut coffee syrup and then use nutella choc. hazelnut spread as a filling.....mmmmmmmmm..that sounds good....may have to try that myself.....maybe just use a choc. frosting and decorate with crushed hazelnuts or those ferer rochet choc. hazelnut ball thingies yumm.......anyhow, there's a million different flavor combos.....just experiment.....bake off a bunch of cupcakes out of yellow cake or choc. cake and just try out all the different icings and fillings and syrups!! It should be fun and educating
I do a lot of custard fillings in cakes like bavarian, chocolate, strawberry, and such. I am 26 and not been baking over 1.5 years so I am quite new also. If you would like the custard fillings recipe just email me at [email protected].
